MITRO MANDATORY FOOD RESCUE DONATION ACT

One in 7 people in the United States are hungry each day.

Hunger is defined as the uneasy or painful sensation caused by want of food and the exhausted condition that goes with it.

In 1997 The Department of Agriculture estimated that 96.4 billion pounds of the 356 billion pounds of edible food produced was never eaten.

Since 1997 the number of billions of pounds of thrown away food has climbed even higher.

This food is put into landfills where it decomposes producing methane gas, a major source of greenhouse gases.

We can totally eradicate hunger in the United States by redirecting this food  into a hungry mouth instead.

A person totally impoverished is a person in crisis.

Humanitarian societies  take care of people in crisis regardless of how that crisis came about.

We must  feed our impoverished citizens.

We can feed them at no cost.

We must pass laws that mandate edible food from large food establishments that is destined for the dumpster for dint of simply not being "fresh", (not bad), just not appropriate for full price sale, be donated to share with the hungry.

This is recycling at it's best.

We have now eradicated hunger and we have saved our environment.

Help us pass this law

THE MITRO MANDATORY FOOD RESCUE DONATION ACT

The simplicity of this is sheer beauty.

Mandatory Health Insurance, How Did This Come First Before Mandatory Food and Shelter?

Viewing a tweet on twitter about food and shelter for all, it hits me, the big problem I have with Mandatory Health Care or Obamacare.
Doing much work with the homeless and the hungry, I realize that without food and shelter there can be no health.
So are we not putting the cart before the horse making it mandatory for each of our citizens to protect ourselves with medical insurance but not making it mandatory to feed ourselves, and not making it mandatory to provide ourselves with shelter.
Seems a little silly when we put it this way doesn't it.
The government says if you can't pay for insurance we will provide it.
Why is the government not saying if you can't pay for food we will provide it?
Why is the government not saying if you can't pay for shelter we will provide it?
If the government truly wants us to be healthy, to go so far as to mandate that all citizens must have health insurance, why are they not stepping in with the ultimate health insurance, which would be food and shelter for all?

Do what we can about hunger at whatever level we are we currently at in life.

The following is correspondence between a friend of mine in Africa and myself. It answers the question of "What can I do to end hunger, I am just one tiny person in the Universe"? -------------------- Hi Kathy, I hope you're good.I have keen interest to stay in touch and learn from you ideas that can change Africa.I come from a land locked country with full of hunger and poverty plus malnutrition among children. I am a change agent who mostly volunteer in rural communities since I do not have a job country hence I need to sharpen my skills in building my career at the same time touching people's lives with relevant interventions. It is of my great understanding that you work at policy level, however, prior to your level I am sure you have done some ground work that can be helpful in my country context particularly in rural setting for the rural poor. With thanks!! Dear ...... I like you started at ground zero with my hunger activism. I was without a job and instead of sitting around doing nothing I reached out and did whatever I could do for those that had less than I, much as you are doing now by volunteering in rural communities. There is much that needs to be change in America with regard to our food supply and getting food to those in need, many many people in America are hungry and this should not be. The answer to solving hunger in Africa and America has to be solved using completely different methods but with the same goal, to end hunger all hunger over the entire planet. Each country must look around with their own eyes in their own country, identify the reasons for hunger and identify what solutions will bring the most food to the most people with the least amount of monetary input. Tenacity gets the job done, always always looking for solutions, never listening to those who say it cannot be done, and avoiding those who simply have no compassion for the pain of their fellow human beings. As you help others you will find help comes your own way in regard to your job situation. That is the way of the universe, the energy you put out will return to you in exact proportion and kind.Like attracts like. Yours is a wonderful spirit it is the spirit of love and compassion. I have been working for years on the political level and just keep putting out the same message and that is, hunger is unconscionable and it is time for it simply not exist anymore. I will insert a link to my political blog here as you might find it interesting. Blessings Kathy

Teach a Child To Bully a Seagull And We Can Kiss World Peace Goodbye

Making sense of the senseless:
Teach a child to bully a seagull and you can kiss world peace goodbye
With the Boston bombing so fresh in mind many people are trying to make sense of what a person can get out of inflicting hurt and horror on such an incredible scale.
inflicting hurt and horror on such an incredible scale.
The answer lies in our children.
In order to find peace we must teach our children that kindness is the only way.
I live on the beach and have my heart broken each day by watching  innocent gentle seagulls set upon by  bullies.
I have watched adults teach their small children, here watch what I do and then you do it, and
proceed to demonstrate when they run into a group of resting birds, screaming, how the birds all
rise as one terror stricken unit and flee to safety.
Then I watch the child they have taught imitate the exact same action.
I have been told by these people they are playing with the birds, it is fun for the birds too.
I have read where pedophiles have the exact same justifications of their horrific abuse of their young victims.
No terror from a bully is never fun, at least not for the victim.
Let us teach our children terror is never justified and never rewarding or fun.
The point I am making here is not to defend seagulls ( although I am doing that also), but to show how by allowing and condoning and encouraging  small cruel behavior to any smaller animal by a child, leads to a child that will also find it perfectly acceptable to bully a smaller child in school, and then to bully a less powerful adult when they become adults.
You never see a parent foolish enough to teach a child to threaten an alligator.
The Boston Bombers grew from such beginnings where cruelty was okay.
Peace comes from within, that is why violence can never be controlled by limiting weapons.
Weapons are the effect, not the cause of violence .
Take away the gun,and a violent person will use a knife.
Why?
Because the weapon  is only a tool the individual uses to play out the the violence within.
The individual is the cause.
Violence is taught and learned .
Turn on your television and you will see that 95% of all shows are murder and violence.
Where is the line between make believe and reality drawn?
Why is it fun for people to  view shows on murder, rape and torture on a daily basis.
To see them as  a dandy way to wile away the afternoon, immersing themselves in hour after hour of viewing  horror as a casual form of entertainment.
As an adult you might (and even that is stretching it) be able to discern the difference but can a small developing mind have difficulty in seeing when it's on T.V. it's alright, but when you act it out in real life it's wrong
If you don't want the violence to show up in real life why would you ever view the horror of violence
as fascinating when you watch it on T.V.
So yes teach a child to bully a seagull and you can kiss world peace goodby because it is from
the small acts of cruelty that the large acts of atrocity grow.
Teach your child when  the choice is between cruelty or kindness, always always choose the kindness.
When each of us choose kindness over cruelty,World Peace will reign.

ISIS is the Bitterest of Fruit From a Damaged Root

Society grows people.
If our society is damaged can we grow good people?
The answer to that is obviously yes.
There are many many good even really superb people that can come out of a damaged society.
If our society is damaged can we grow bad people?
The answer to that is also obvious, yes as in the case with ISIS
Much rhetoric is being thrown around as what we can do to destroy ISIS and their cruelty, by this they mean wipe them out, kill them.
 But then what?
You have only destroyed the bitter fruit and not addressed at all the damaged plant that is growing them.
Yes growing them.
Think through then again to how many children are born each day into the same society that produced their forefathers .
How can we ever think, when we have not addressed the cause for such fruit, that we will not produce an even perhaps bigger crop of the the same kind of  fruit when it is coming from the same tree.
As much as people want to rail out and shout kill them we must realize we are only killing the fruit of the tree not the the tree.
Now am I saying to kill the tree?
No absolutely not,in fact each and every one of us comprises the tree which is society.
Some of the most eloquent speakers of our times have said it far better than I could hope to "Darkness does not destroy darkness only light does that."
Now is the light I am speaking of turning the other cheek or trying to reform or change the radical extremists in ISIS?
No the die is already cast in grown individuals, the answer lies always in the children.
Expose our children to a kinder world where there is no hunger and we will change the root of the tree and thus the vine bearing the fruit and thus the fruit produced.
There are three essentials to life and they are food, water and oxygen.
Most of the time the last two are met easily but in the case of the third, food, there is great suffering and pain and death.
This is a very difficult picture to look at it is of a small child in Africa laying in a field slowly starving to death while a vulture waits for his imminent  death so he might devour the child.
Now we with enough money to see this picture on our computers can turn it off.
We can avoid our eyes and say we do not want to see it.
We can put it out of our minds and forget it.
But what of the people that are witnesses to this kind of sight on a day to day basis.
They cannot avert their eyes. They cannot turn it off.
Can we not see where a society that lets this happen is growing anger at affluent well fed citizens that they feel are turning their eyes and their help from them.
Could this not be construed as no empathy for my pain so I will now make you hurt.
I am in no way saying actions taken to hurt in revenge or for other reasons are right.
In fact they are dead wrong and that is the equal reactions on both ends.
I am in no way saying to be affluent and well fed is wrong.
In fact it is very right.
What is wrong and is damaging our society is that those that have so much are not reaching out their hand to help those that are in such pain and suffering.

I firmly believe that if we all reach out to understand where such darkness is coming from and throw in light we will slowly turn our world much much brighter.
It is time now in 2015 to make a vow, not one more death from starvation,
Not one more person twisting in the agony of hunger.
Food for all regardless of borders.
Those that have been hurt the worst turn out to the be the biggest hurters of all when it is in their power to do so.
A gift of food to even the darkest of minds might tip the scale from hatred to gratitude.
It has always been my greatest wish to imagine planes flying not to drop bombs but to drop food.
I know it happens I would just like to imagine it happening everywhere all the time.
Food for all might not stop all war, but it would be a very very good start.

Text of Mandatory Food Rescue Donation Act

Text of Mandatory Food Rescue Donation Act Bill

Bill Number :

Title: Mandatory Food Rescue Donation Act
Because One out of every 7 people in the United States is food insecure, a condition marked by not knowing when, or if, they will receive their next meal, and because food establishments throw away over 40% of edible food that passes through their systems merely because it is not fresh, not bad, just not fresh.
This bill would marry two needs:

1. Feeding our hungry.

2.Protecting our environment from the massive amounts of uneaten food, hundreds of billions of pounds each year that wind up polluting our landfills, decomposing into methane gas a major source of global warming.

Bill Text

Any establishment in which food sales make up more than 20% of gross sales will be required to install a special food rescue donation freezer in their establishment. Each day all food that is deemed no longer  appropriate for sale but is
1. Still edible but no longer fresh.
2. On the cusp of it's expiration date
3. Whose sell by date is passed but by virtue of it's being deemed safe to consume after it's sell by date is passed
Would be required to be frozen in above said freezer.
Each day, or whenever freezer is full, same establishments will be required to either have a working arrangement in advance with a local food pantry or be free to call any food pantry that is in possession of a matching donation freezer on demand to pick up contents of freezer. Food pantry will take all responsibility for distributing food to the hungry.

Bill sponsors footnote: This bill's intent is to eradicate hunger in the United States by using the food we have already produced, reclaiming it in a responsible way from endangering our fragile ecosystem.
It's intent is to protect our environment by limiting the amount of edible food that is allowed to be thrown into our landfills decomposing into methane gas a major source of global warming and to feed our hungry by using what we already have, that no longer has any monetary value for sale.It is to respect animals whose lives were sacrificed to feed others from being callously thrown away before fulfilling the reason for their sacrifice which was to feed
I Kathleen Mitro agree to sponsor this Bill using my real name and picture for the life of this Bill.

I have searched through other citizens proposed bills to make sure I am not replicating others efforts.

I genuinely have a proposal for something new
The source of funding for this legislation will come from said freezer being recognized as a recycle bin and as such the financial responsibility of the business establishment to purchase.

The financial responsibility of picking up and distributing the food will fall to the food pantry that takes possession of it.
